The GAA designation is awarded on an ongoing basis throughout the year, and recognizes a high level of professionalism and commitment to the industry by members of NAR's Appraisal Section who meet specified qualifications. Program qualifications to earn a designation include member-ship in NAR and its Appraisal Section, successful completion of several educational requirements and State Certification. The Appraisal Section's designation program was started in 1994 for members of NAR'S Appraisal Section. The section's objective is to advance the professional development and recognition of its appraiser members through specialized services, programs, information and related products. The section currently boasts a membership of more than 5,409 professional real estate appraisers.
